Mepa website revamped

The Malta Environment (Mepa) and Planning Authority has launched a new website - www.mepa.org.mt, designed and developed by Alert Communications Ltd (www.alert.com.mt).

Using the latest technology for web design and style trends, the site has been given a fresh look.

Being a complex site with various applications and pages of information, making it easily accessible was challenging.

After various workshops with Mepa, the end result is a fresh, uncluttered design. An improved user experience was achieved through the creation of easy-to-use and intuitive menus, better use of space on the homepage and a multitude of navigational aids placed on the site, making it easy for users to find and access the information required.

The Mepa portal is powered by an advanced content management system - the Alert Web Publisher. This software makes it easy for Mepa staff to update pages, adding new content when required while deleting obsolete pages.

Other add-on modules have also been integrated to the Alert Web Publisher to help staff update the site. A news manager was deployed, enabling Mepa public relations personnel to easily upload daily news items and display this information chronologically, complete with a thumbnail picture for each news item.
