Maltese swimmers in the Special Olympics Aquatics Competitions being held in Palma de Mallorca have secured seven medals in the first day of the competitions today putting Malta in the fifth place.

Maria Wetz obtained a gold medal in the 25 metres breaststroke and silver in the 50 metres freestyle, Alexia Wetz won bronze in the 50 metres freestyle while Chairmain Mifsud placed fourth.

Nathaniel Grasso got a silver medal and Ivan Mangion bronze in the 25 metres breaststroke and Jean Paul Fenech won bronze in the 50 metres breaststroke. The relay team won silver.

Five more finals are being held tomorrow.
