Last month was wetter than usual, as a total of 77.4 mm of rain fell at Luqa Airport, well over the September norm of 40.4 mm. This amount is mostly due to the storm on September 23, when the rainfall amounted to 56.2 mm.

The wettest September on record remains that of 1997 when 266.9 mm of rain fell.

The driest was in 1943, which experienced no rain at all. With a mean air temperature of 24.6 ˚C, September days were half a degree warmer than the norm for the month.
