Two 40-ft containers with provisions will be heading for the Philippines after the floods which killed 650 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless.

The containers were loaded at the Humanitarian Aid Unit in Marsa yesterday.

Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici, who was among those who visited the site yesterday, said that disasters in other countries highlighted the importance for civil protection resources in Malta to be always prepared for the worst.
