Some breakfasts healthier than others
I refer to the letter by Robert Micallef about what constitutes a healthy breakfast (October 15) and would like to point out that not all breakfast cereals are deceiving.
We at Green Trade have for the past years been importing a true healthy breakfast muesli and other healthy products without any added sugar or salt and with the right amounts of fibre and other nutrients. For two consecutive years we have supported a healthy breakfast campaign in a state junior lyceum and offered the children the Alara Organic Rich, with the ingredients being oats, crispy wheat flakes, sultanas, sunflower seeds, dates, raisins, apricots, almonds, roasted hazelnuts and pumpkin seeds; and Alara Organic Branberry muesli with the following ingredients: crispy wheat flakes, strawberries, sultanas, raisins and blueberries. Being organic, both products do not contain any preservatives and additives.
We also provided them with Oskri date bars and Oskri fig bars, which are 100 per cent fruit with nothing added at all, and which are produced solely by wind energy. We are proud to say that the students enjoyed this healthy breakfast and had an opportunity to learn about what constitutes a healthy life style.
While appreciating the fact that Mr Micallef suggests a banana as the best alternative to sugar-laden products, one can still enjoy a number of other healthy products such as cereal bars, desserts and breakfast muesli, which Green Trade is synonymous with.

We have been making use Alara products in our breakfast for the past year. They are great products. Thanks Mr. Baldacchino.

In defence of Robert Micallef, I am sure you must realize he was using a ''banana'' as a 'healthy breakfast' as an example!! Of course, there are healthier alternatives. If you weren't the Director for Green Trade, I doubt you would have written in. sorry.
