A Russian woman has pleaded not guilty to entering into a marriage of convenience with a Maltese man.

Natalia Plotnikova, 31, was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee €2,000.

The court heard that Ms Plotnikova had a Russian husband before marrying Wayne Briffa, who told the police that he had married her so that she would obtain Maltese citizenship.
