The Nationalist Party has accused Joseph Muscat of attempting to rewrite Malta's history by seeming to apologise for the violence of October 15, 1979 while at the same time trying to blame the Nationalists for it.

Referring to a speech given by the Labour leader yesterday during an activity by the Tumas Fenech Foundation, the PN said Dr Muscat had tried to cast the blame on the PN by giving the impression that those who caused the violence was only using the Labour Party. This was the same argument which Alfred Sant used to make, when he spoke of agent provocateur. The truth was, the PN said, that it was Labour supporters who had carried out the violence - physical, emotional and psychological.

The PN said that in this case too, Dr Muscat was trying to compromise in order to please the PL extremists.

The PN said it expected the Labour leader to apologise for his misleading version of history. It also expected him to be loyal to the truth.
