Man charged with attempted murder of wine bar owner
James Aquilina, 35, of Attard, has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of journalist and wine bar owner David Darmanin, 29, who was grievously injured when he was stabbed in the early hours of yesterday.
The attack took place at his wine bar in High Street, Sliema. He was found in a pool of blood in the street and was rushed to hospital.
Mr Aquilina was also charged with seriously injuring Mr Darmanin, being in possession of a knife and relapsing.
He was remanded in custody.

I always wonder how magiatrates feel when they see that the guy they previously let loose goes on to perpetrate another viscious act. If on the other hand he had served a prison term, then we seriously have to consider what next.

If this guy is found guilty, then as a relasper - he surely must get considerable jail time (15 years minimum).
The lengthy jail time is needed to protect both the victim of the assault, and the general public.
Next time he could easily commit murder, since he does not learn from his mistakes, and is not concerned about carrying a knife and stabbing people (and being a relapser).
