May I thank columnist I.M. Beck for a muted reply to my letters.

He referred to the time when I missed seeing two great goals when I walked out of the Barcelona stadium in the 90th minute. I remember hauling this eminent lawyer into the Wolf Pack's off-roader and giving him a lift. He was right to point out this episode and I have no qualms about this. I missed something which only Manchester United can produce - last-minute goals.

Then he misinterpreted parts of my letter. I referred to the time when I went hungry during the war years in order to shoot down his statement that I do not know where the poverty line starts. This experience had nothing to do with my insistence that the illegal immigrants should be sent back to their country or to Libya.

He then left out the most important part of my letter wherein I wished to know about his solution to this problem.

Apparently this gentleman like quite a few writers is great at criticising but refrains from proposing solutions.

I ask again for his solution. If he does not think that a problem exists he should say so loudly and clearly, so that I can send him a prayer rug for Christmas (Sorry! for winter. Soon we will have to refer to Christmas holidays as winter holidays so as not to offend these immigrants as happened in the UK).

Indeed we ordinary mortals and taxpayers would like to know from our government and from the opposition if they are worried about this challenge and if so what are their plans, if any, in order to resolve the situation. In other words what is the endgame?

I have found that one of the most important axioms in business is to know where you are, as well as where you think that you will be in the near future.

We know where we are with the illegal immigrants. Each year they are increasing in number. However, we do not know where we will be in five or 10 years' time.

We can forget about getting any help from our EU friends, while Frontex as I had indicated on several occasions is a joke (its leaders have finally admitted defeat).

I am glad that I.M. Beck has admitted that I am not racist at all. That is one of the few correct statements that he has made. In fact what I have wished to point out all along to the innocent Maltese public is that things may get out of hand, that soon it will be too late to do anything about it and that therefore our islands must act now.

I am pleased to see that the rest of his article is dedicated to the harm that hunting is doing to our islands. On this I. M. Beck has my fullest support.
