Arab League secretary arrives for liaison office opening
Mr Moussa is greeted by Foreign Minister Tonio Borg.
The long-serving Secretary-General of the Arab League, Amre Moussa, is in Malta for the opening, tomorrow, of an EU-Arab League liaison office in Floriana. He will be joined tonight by the European Commissioner for External Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
The office, adjacent to police headquarters, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.
Both Mr Moussa and Ms Ferrero-Waldner will have meetings with the Prime Minister and with Foreign Minister Tonio Borg. They will also meet the foreign affairs committee of the House of Representatives.
The liaison office will group experts from the European Commission and the Arab League, who will coordinate dialogue between the EU and the Arab League.
Dr Borg said that membership of the EU had placed Malta in a stronger position to broker dialogue between north and south.
"We are no longer a tiny nation trying to find our political position in this dialogue, we are indeed part of it."

A Muscat: The illegal immigrants in Malta has nothing to do with U.S policies. But it is sad that the EU and the rest of the world has to ride the coat tails of the great. U.S.A. So according to you and the government, it's America's fault for the downturn of the world economy. I hope your same government didn't take credit for the growth that Malta expiernced in the last few years or you only blame America when times are tough. So basically unless the U.S does good the EU can't survive. Don't you find that SAD. I think it's America's fault for the downturn in the American's economy. The downturn in the EU's economy is the EU's fault. Just think if the EU countries have to pay back Africa the wealth they stole from them. Altough it's seems Africa is taking it back plus interest a country at a time with a boatful at a time. Good luck A Muscat.

@Tonio Borg; Part of what ? I assume you mean we are part of the EU. If we are part of them. Where is the help from the EU when it comes to Malta's biggest crisis, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

@ Mike Pace
Thank God that we have people like you in Malta....so that the Governments can keep investing in education.
Malta will be hosting a dialogue office to improve communications and the relationship between the Arab World and Europe......rather than having a secret treaty with North Korea.
