Student organisations
The MUSC committee.
Name: Malta University Sports Club (MUSC).
Year established: 1925.
Vision and mission: Sports, health and fitness are three essential concepts in one’s lifestyle. With the ever-growing awareness of the need to eat healthy food and undertake regular exercise to live longer and in good health, sport has permanently embedded itself in our culture. With this in mind, the MUSC was set up to contribute towards this progressive trend.
Greatest achievement: Special student offers for the Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Tal-Qroqq (in association with Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport), Inter-faculty Football Tournament (in collaboration with KSU), and sports initiatives on campus to attract students to sports both for recreation and as professional support.
The Greenhouse committee.
Name: Greenhouse.
Year established: 2008.
Vision and mission: Greenhouse’s vision is to have a permanent environmental student organisation on campus that can monitor life on campus and pinpoint any areas that can be improved sustainably so as to have a smaller impact on the environment.
Through Greenhouse, environmental NGOs can have a greater say on campus and University students can be more active in these NGOs to enrich their campus experience.
Greenhouse has embarked on a mission to concretely propose a number of initiatives and to work together with various NGOs, student organisations and governmental authorities to change the business-as-usual attitude so rampant on campus. Greenhouse also seeks to raise awareness on issues such as animal awareness and human rights.
Greatest achievment: The initiation of a composting scheme on campus so that organic waste, especially from the prunings of trees and shrubs, is composted. So far, a shredder has been hired to deal with prunings, with the final compost being taken away. Greenhouse is looking into the possibility of eliminating the need for this shredder and during this coming year, this project will hopefully come to full fruition.

The Lyceum was reopened at Tal-Handaq with success. It was headed by the lamented Mr. J. Testa as Head Master. There are former students in parliament and others who made a success in their youth. Is there anyone interested in making a list of former pupils of Liceo Vassalli who occupy a responsible position or who have achieved success in their studies and their present position. This used to be done freqently i.c.w. the Hamrun Lyceum, why not
start one in respect of Tal-Handaq Lyceum Vassalli.
