With reference to the letter entitled Inflated Fine For Late CVA Payment, the CVA bill amounting to €0.82 issued to Carmel Zerafa had an issue date of August 1, 2009. The due date set for the bill was September 11, thus allowing the full 30 days of settlement from the date of delivery of the bill.

Besides making payments by cheque or in cash at our offices in Marsa as indicated in Mr Zerafa's letter, clients can also use the online payment facility by accessing the CVA system through their Client User Number and related password, or by sending the remittance advice indicating their credit/debit card details, or they can also settle payments at the Valletta local council.

Moreover, as explained in both the registration form and the CVA statement, clients may benefit from a 10 per cent prepayment discount if they opt to settle their CVA bill prior to it being issued or if they register for the direct debit scheme.
