Complaints of stray dogs ignored
Residents of Santa Margerita in Mosta have been complaining of stray dogs roaming the street for a number of years. From what I have been told, these strays are very dirty, and on a number of occasions they have been the cause of children falling off their bikes.
They chase every cat that dares cross their path. Lately, a number of kittens were their prey.
Telephone calls to the local council, to the police, to the SPCA and to other animal sanctuaries proved futile.
The stray dogs are still roaming in the area for all to see. It is a pity that they do not chase and catch the rats which are infesting the area especially near the two Bring-in sites. When a lady complained to the police because her six-year old daughter was bitten by mites, she was told that action would only be taken by them if someone is attacked and injured by the dogs. (Mites do not seem to fall under this category!).
These residents feel completely ignored.

While at University in Newcastle, I was so poor, and yet I needed cheap transportation, that I decided to purchase a debilitated small motorbike for £20. I quickly dismantled it, meticulously overhauled and painted it and rebuilt it to perfection such that my friends would not believe it.
The second time I drove it, I travelled through Jesmond road down St MAry's Place towards the University and a GIGANTIC STRAY Alsatian dog quickly rushed across the street into my front wheel, where I was thrown off my bike and both my bike and I suffered considerable scratches. As I laid down in agony, contemplating the damage to the bike, and to my skin and my morale, let alone my pride, I heared a lady Geordie say, " Oh that poor Dog", where to this day I still do not know who or what she was referring to!!!!!
This was the bike I travelled with from Dover to Newcastle and Edinburgh on a number of times but only once I had stray dog encounters. MaltaUIniversity students please note, I never had any parking problems with my motorcycles since I was 18 years old, even when I attended my University then and now

Hmmm. For a moment I thought the strays were complaining! But - what have they to complain about? They have fun chasing cats, killing kittens (how cruel -almost as bad as humans!) and playing host to mites - and maybe fleas and ticks too! What a great life! All they have to worry about is finding food and water every day, keeping safe on our streets where most drivers drive like maniacs - and, of course, keeping out of the way of people who obviously have no shred of sympathy for strays.

@ Ms Barbaro-Sant - Is that what animals are destined to do? Work on behalf of humanity all the time? Be at man's service, catching rats? Rats, as well as the dogs themselves, poor things, are the fruit of man's action! A little more care for animals, if you please, lady.
