The Court of Appeal today turned down a request to re-hear a case where two surgeons were cleared of charges of negligence in a case going back to a kidney removal operation 12 years ago.

Surgeons Donald Felice and Olga Aramov had been accused of negligence by Rose Gauci after one of her kidneys was removed.

The operation was performed by Dr Aramov and Mr Felice was also accused of negligence in post-operation treatment.

The first court had found in favour of the patient and ordered Dr Aramov to pay damages of almost €70,000 but the ruling was overturned by the Court of Appeal which found that there was no negligence.
