Obituary
AXISA. On October 5, at St Vincent de Paul residence, GEORGE, of Qormi, aged 89, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Joe and Frances, living in Canada, their families, his brother Joseph, his sister Luċija, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for St Anne parish church, Marsascala, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.15 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Resurrection Cemetery, Qormi. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
BUTTIGIEG. On October 7, MARIA, of Mellieħa, aged 54, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother Rita, her sisters and brothers, Violet and her husband Charlie Vassallo, Bridgitte, Joe and his wife Rosette, Eileen and her husband Joe Vella of Australia, and Jimmy and his wife Kathleen, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her residence today at 2.45 p.m. for Our Lady of Victory parish church, Mellieħa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Omm il-Ħniena Cemetery, Mellieħa. Plays, Exhibition In Mosta
Talent Mosti is organising a series of activities at its premises Ir-Razzett tal-Markiż Mallia Tabone, Wied il-Għasel Street, Mosta.
Two plays, adapted from the stories of Dun Xand Cortis Mistura tal-Imħabba għal Arlekkin by Narcy Calamatta and Kollox bil-Qaddisin by Frank Tanti, will be staged tomorrow starting at 7 p.m.
A joint exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Angelo Agius and Vincent Abdilla will open on Saturday and run until October 24.
Charles Abela Mizzi will interview Alfred Sant, author of the novel L-Għalqa tal-Iskarjota on October 22 at 7 p.m. Entrance is free, and everyone is invited.
Lace Day
The Lace Guild and Crafts Council will be holding a lace day on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St James Cavalier in Valletta.
Parental skills in sexual education
The National Council of Women in conjunction with Cana Movement will be holding a series of informative and interactive sessions on the topic of Parental Skills In Sexual Education.
The aim of the sessions is to raise awareness among parents on sexual health issues regarding children. The sessions will cover sexual health themes that may arise at different ages, including sexual education, responsible parenthood, sexually-transmitted infections, contraception and the HPV vaccine.
Anna Vella and Pauline Tufigno from Cana Movement will be facilitating the sessions. They will be drawing upon their extensive experience in the field of sexual education to provide guidance to parents.
The sessions on Parental Skills In Sexual Education will be held on October 16, 23 and 30 at the Catholic Institute, Floriana between 5.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. A course fee of €5 is applicable.

Preserve marriage, preserve children
For more than a decade there has been extensive debate as to whether parents’ marital status affects children’s well-being and development, how large these effects are, and why those effects might occur.
Research suggests children raised by married biological parents fare better, on average, than other children.
A discussion on this topic will be held at 7 p.m. today at Sala Mons Gonzi at the Catholic Institute in Floriana. Family therapists Roberta Zahra de Domenico and Ruth Formosa Ventura will share their experiences.
