A Scottish man has been extradited to Malta to face charges in connection with the record discovery of 450kg of cannabis by the police on September 8.

The police said that while several persons had already been arraigned, investigations had continued and the Attorney General had formally requested the extradition of the Scottish suspect.

He was escorted from London to Malta last night.

Two Serbs, a British couple and a Maltese man already face charges in connection with the haul, estimated to have a street value of €1.5 million.

The drugs were found in a St Julians hostel and ina field near Madliena.
