MZPN opposes morning-after pill

Equates it with abortion

The Youth Movement of the Nationalist Party (MZPN) said today that it was against the introduction of the morning-after pill in Malta.

The Parliament of Youths recently proposed the introduction of the morning-after pill in exceptional circumstances such as rape, with the pill only being dispensed from hospitals.

The MZPN said it backed the right to life from conception and could therefore never agree with the morning-after pill since this constituted abortion.

"All those who are in favour of the right to life can never be in favour of abortion, whatever the situation," the movement said.
