The Malta Resources Authority yesterday said an agreement had been reached with the importers of energy-saving bulbs who had been involved in legal actions over the past weeks.

A court last week provisionally upheld a request for a prohibitory injunction to stop the scheme. The request was made by ESS Ltd after it was stopped from distributing its Megaman lights, following court action taken against it by its competitors. They had complained that the company had not submitted samples of its bulbs for testing to the MRA but was still part of the scheme.

The MRA said that after its mediation, the importers had agreed to drop all court action. Bulb distribution can therefore continue.

The MRA is asking anyone who has not yet redeemed their vouchers to do so before October 31. It is also in the process of sending vouchers to those who had not yet received them. In case of any difficulty call on free phone 8007 2212.
