Piano’s comments book
I twice visited the Renzo Piano exhibition for the proposed Valletta City Gate at the Museum of Archaeology.
On both occasions I asked for the visitors’ comments book and was told that there was none! I ask myself: Why? Am I not living in a democratic society? Why can’t I leave a comment to express my ideas about such an important national project?
Is the Maltese government saying that Mr Piano’s design proposals are not strong enough to handle a healthy national discussion about such a project that would affect us all as a nation? Or is it simply saying that our government doesn’t give a toss about our opinions on the proposed project?

Didn't you ever hear the word RESTORATION? Meaning, RESTORING what esisted before? Why are we building a future with NO respect to the past?? This is not fair!! This stupid piano project is going to ruin Valletta (it's awful as it is i admit) however if we're doing this project, it must be a restoration project, and not a BRAND new project! This project doesn't reflect the view of the Maltese! We are the Maltese and we want our say!! Restore Valletta and re build the Opera House and City gate in their ORIGINAL way!! Simple!!

@ J. Martinelli: Sorry Sir but you are wrong. Dr. Gonzi did not consult with anybody except his right hand man. No comments were asked for from anybody. He is just bulldozing his way through. I understand that since you live in Canada it is diffcult for you to understand that a mega-project that will effect our capital city forever should be consulted with at least some professionals and NGOs - but not in Malta unfortunately! As for Mr. Grimaud making comments here, do you honestly think that any comments posted here are seen or even acted upon? You must be joking!

@ Tony Grimaud
Since you took the trouble of pointing out the lack of a 'Comments Book' at the Museum of Archaeology, why did you not make you personal comments here, as well?
Many have, both for and against the Piano project and your comments would certainly have been appreciated by either side!
My impression is that the government had been accepting comments directly from professionals, NGOs and the public in general until very recently. Are we going for another 68 year cycle in order to, maybe, go ahead with the project?

The last question is the most appropriate! And the answer is there for all to see!!!
