October 15-16, DG ECFIN's 6th Annual Research Conference
The 2009 research conference organised by DG ECFIN will bring together economists and policymakers to discuss three interrelated key issues relevant to fundamental economic thinking on the current crisis and the lessons that can be drawn from it. The conference will seek insights into the interplay between political and economic issues in the reform process, the pros and cons of proposals for reforming financial systems in the light of lessons from the current crisis, and the challenges that the crisis is posing to classical economic thinking on market behaviour. The event will be held in Brussels.

October 20, Partnership Forum in the Textile and Garment's Sector between Agadir Agreement Member Countires and the Euopean Union.
The forum represents an opportunity to enhance the relationship between the private sector from Agadir countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan) and their counter-parts from the EU to discuss further partnership and industrial integration in the textile and garment sector via their presence in one of the largest international exhibitions in the European Union. The event will be held at Port de Versailles, Paris, France.

October 20 - 21, Conference on a single E-language for the European textile and footwear industries
This is the final conference of a pan-European large-scale pilot action financed by the Enterprise and Industry DG under the Small Business Act for Europe and the eBSN initiative. This is the first in a series of large-scale actions to help SMEs implement eBusiness and thus participate in global digital supply chains in different industry and services sectors.

This important event will present key features and results on real eBusiness cases which have been recently tested across Europe and for over 150 between Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) companies and retailers. Distinguished speakers will illustrate eBusiness experiences and next opportunities to a wide audience from across the whole European Economic Area. Surely this occasion will be convenient for networking among all participants.

October 29, Conference ICT and e-Business for an Innovative and Sustainable Economy
The 2009 Conference of the Sectoral e-Business Watch, a programme of DG Enterprise and Industry, will take place on October 29 in Hotel Bloom, Brussels. This conference focuses on the economic impact of ICT on innovation and environmental sustainability as well as on resulting implications for competitiveness and policy. The main theme of the morning sessions is "ICT and sustainability", the main theme of the afternoon "ICT and industrial policy". The conference brings together professionals who face these issues in their work. This is the sixth e-Business Watch Conference since the first one organised in 2002. The conference regularly attracts more than 100 experts from policy, business and business associations, research and consultancy.

November 18, Conference: Educating a New Generation of ICT Standards Professionals
Standards play an increasingly important role for Information and Communication Technologies. Knowledge about standards and their potential for business success in a globally competitive ICT market is critical. Seeing the needs and identifying the proper means for providing high-quality education on ICT standardisation is key for bringing in-depth knowledge to a highly-qualified group of professionals in the future.

The European Commission is committed to facilitating the communication between ICT standardisation and the different stakeholders around the domain. For this reason, the European Commission will be holding a public event to discuss the development of training programmes to support the involment of different interest groups in ICT European standardisation.

The event will be held on November 18 in Brussels. The topics to be discussed will range from EU law to the functioning of technical committees.

The aim of the conference is to present and discuss research that contributes to the sharing of new theoretical, methodological and empirical knowledge, and to a better understanding of management practices, particularly in the fields of creativity, innovation and management.

MIC 2009 is a conference for those involved in management studies. This year's event will concentrate in particular on creativity and innovation that are becoming important attributes for a successful society. There is a need for skills and competences that enable people to embrace change as an opportunity and to be open to new ideas in a culturally diverse, knowledge-based society.

The tenth annual Management International Conference (MIC) 2009 will take place from November 25 to 28 in Sousse, Tunisia.

December 9, Conference on the European machinery industry
The conference "Machinery In Europe: Perspectives and Challenges for the European Machinery Industry" will bring together decision-makers, stakeholders and directive's practitioners. From their different perspectives - political, regulatory and industrial - they will analyse the situation of the sector after the downturn and devise forward-looking initiatives for the future.

The conference will welcome the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

This directive, which will become applicable on December 29, has contributed to the creation of an internal market for machinery products in Europe while providing high levels of safety and innovation.

The Machinery Directive has therefore become one of the key elements of the competitiveness of the sector, which represents 10 per cent of the whole European industry.

The machinery sector directly employs 3.25 million people, making the EU the largest producer of mechanical engineering equipment in the world.

The event will take place in the Charlemagne building, room Gasperi S3, Rue de la Loi 170, Brussels.
