Upset for leaders

Week ten of the Middlesea League saw full-point victories for Fina, Ramis and PharmaVet against HSBC, Bank of Valletta and The Clan respectively but long-time leaders okmalta.com lost out 6-2 to Turu’s Knights.

Second-placed Globalair Travel took the advantage to narrow the gap on the leaders by beating Salitos 6-2.

Okmalta.com’s lead has now been slashed to just four points.

The Knights took the early lead with an 811-780 game one victory, but it was soon all square as okmalta.com responded with a 687-735 win in the second.

The match was wide open as the deciding third commenced, and that fell to Turu’s Knights 829-799 for a narrow series victory (2,327-2,314).

Okmalta.com’s defeat was good news for title chasers Globalair Travel.

They started strongly, taking the opener 745-814 to go ahead. Their pace dropped considerably in the second, allowing Salitos to make it two-all but the tables turned again in the decider, which went to Globalair, 726- 833 for the match (2,216-2,350).
