Matijevic, Desira scoop best player awards

The Malta Basketball Association has announced the winners of the Player of the Year awards for season 2008/2009.

Marco Matijevic, who helped Luxol to the Powerade League title last season, has been voted best player in the men's category and Hibs' Maria Desira captured the equivalent accolade for ladies.

Division One men: Marco Matijevic (Luxol).

Women: Maria Desira (Hibernians).

Division Two: Sean Pace (Loyola).

Under-20 men: Nigel Sultana (Loyola).

Under-20 women: Leanne Sciberras (Athleta).

Under-17 men: David Bugeja (Depiro).

Under-17 women: Steffi De Martino (Luxol).
