Condoning condoms (4)
I used to think that Vodafone was into communications of the telephony form, not the sexual form!
Their recent cheap promotional stunt at University, offering free condoms to students who opted to buy their pack, is an insult to university students' ability to make an intelligent choice when purchasing a product.

Very much agree with the letter.
@Janet Bayes - Take a 8 year old...offer some sweets. Success, you successfully bought the child to do your bidding. Increase the age say, by 10 years and offer a free pack with a condom...
@Chris Finch - The Univeristy doesn't need a pharmaceutical product. A student (READ: any student) needs anything for birth control, there's the local pharmacy. What Vodafone did was just a cheap trick into luring students.....a very bad attempt at that.

Noel makes a very valid point
One free condom is not going to be enough is it?
Vodafone are promoting Vodafone! Looks good on their CV to do a bit of "community" work!
I am sure that the offer condoms in packs was not the lure that made people buy them, as if they were giving out an endless supply of the things!

My dear Mr. Camilleri, please realise that this offer was europe wide, not just Malta.
Of course, this younger generation are experimenting. Just as my generation did, and the one before me, and indeed my Grandmothers generation. The thing is, that in these more enlightened times it is more realistic to protect yourself against both diseases and pregnancy,
I would be interested to know how many students have complained and indeed refused the offer because of the free gift.

Noel,
Your letter is an insult to university student's ability to make an intelligent choice when it comes to birth control.
