A Fgura man who went to Gozo yesterday and released 94 pigeons near Ta' Pinu church was surprised in the evening to find that 13 had failed to make it back home.

But his surprise turned to anger when he found that one of the pigeons which did make it had blood splattered wings.

Jesmond Zammit said he had initially wondered why not all the pigeons had made it.

"But in this picture there is the answer," he said.
