A 39-year-old folk singer (ghannej) today admitted in court that he yesterday threatened a man who had been claiming he was a better singer.

The court was told that the victim of these threats, Victor Pace, had been spreading the word around that he was a better singer than the accused Mario Dimech.

At around 6 p.m. Mr Dimech went to the bar which they both frequented carrying a 19.5cm knife with which he threatened him.

The police arrived before anything else could happen.

Mr Dimech was fined €500 and the victim was given a one year protection order.
