I recently had to spend a week in Mater Dei Hospital. During my stay I was in the IDU for two and a half days, then in the operating theatre and the rest in OW3. At the same time my sister-in-law was in the gynae ward (and I have a feeling that the rest of the hospital is exactly the same) and we are in total agreement; no wonder there are bed shortages and waiting lists at the hospital – no one wants to go home!
They should rename it Mater Dei Hotel! The standard of care is the best I have ever seen anywhere, the food is better than most restaurants (supply your own salt) and the staff are wonderful; cheerful hard working and fully professional, from the top dog (the ones who make the tea) right the way down the line to the doctors who poke you and slap you about and the surgeons who cut you up.
I was almost sorry to have to leave, and am thinking of booking again for the same week next year. Man, what a team – brilliant, perfect.
Now, seriously, thank you all, from both of us and our families. Please (if they print this letter) put this up on your staff notice boards so that all can see it and be thanked. I hope that in the near future I can meet you and buy you all a drink as a small token of my esteem.
