Seven arrested following drug and cash finds
The police said they found more than 700 grammes of cannabis at an apartment in Guardamangia on Thursday night. They arrested a 22-year-old man who lived in the apartment and who was already known to them and a 20 -year-old man from Birkirkara.
The police said they continued to investigate and arrested another 20-year-old man, who lived in Naxxar, after cannabis plants and seeds, as well as a piece of cannabis resin ready to be sold, were found in his apartment. During this find, the police also held a 21-year-old man from Attard and a 19-year-old woman from Madliena, who were found in possession of cannabis.
On Friday, police from the Customs Enforcement section together with immigration police, held Atenuke Ugoji, a 42-year-old Nigerian woman, residing in Italy but holding a Nigerian passport after a large amount of cash was found in her possession. She was leaving Malta on a direct flight to Brussels.
The woman had told customs officials she was carrying €9,815 in cash but because she when searched, she found to be carrying a total of €29,815. She was handed over to the Economic Crime Division which continued to investigate together with the Drug Squad.
She was charged in Court this morning and has been remanded in custody.
Following further investigations, the police also found 240 grammes of heroin, as well as objects of value at an apartment in Naxxar.

Confiscate the money and deport her.
Could this money be for false passports, drugs, people trafficking etc?

Excellent work by the Customs Enforcement section together with immigration police. Also congratulations to the police for the bust in Guardamangia. How are all these drugs getting into Malta? This is a big problem and must be stopped. To the Customs agents,police etc keep up the good work.
