Domenico Sotera, Enrico Oddenino, Thomas Traversini and Christian Stevanini, all technicians from the Federazione Motociclistica Italiana (FMI), recently visited Malta to conduct a three-day technical and practical exercise for local riders.
The training, carried out at the Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi (ASM) headquarters in Ta' Qali, was made possible after discussions with the European Motorcycling Union and the FMI.
Motocross riders attending the course were split in two classes, beginners and more advanced.
As quadbike racing is an all-new sport to the ASM, it was decided to group all participants together in this category.
Most of the training focused on fine-tuning motorbikes ahead of races. Various other topics came up for discussion, namely theory and practical riding, personal safety and nutrition.
At the end of the course, the FMI officials were presented with mementos.
A special licence was also issued to the top Maltese riders who completed the course, giving them the opportunity to compete in the Italian National Championship and the European Motocross Championships.
During their stay here, the FMI representatives and those of the ASM also found time to discuss other ways of cooperation between the two motoring organisations, establishing stronger ties in the process.
