he has a really great sense of humor. winning the war on drugs? its known worldwide that its impossible as prohibition is helping to increase more the demand for drugs alongside with poor education on this subject. the only solution is to educate more our youngsters with true facts and not the ones published by goverments + prohibitionist groups fueled from alcohol & tobacco companies. decriminalizing cannabis for personal is a good thing too as its known that its one of the mildest and safest drugs on earth and where cannabis is decriminalized , crime and the use of hard drugs went down

This clearly shows that the goverment has no idea and does not want to confront this problem not to loose votes as it would look bad in the eyes of the old mentality hardcore voters!!

Education is the key......as others said before....the war on drugs can never be won....never!!! In a modern world other countries have found different ways to tackle these problems and have been successful....but alas we live in a third world close minded country

While giving credit to the police and other agencies in seizing such hauls, this sends shivers down my spine as to the alarming rate that youngsters (mainly) make use of such illegal and dangerous drugs/chemicals.

I'm afraid the battle will never be won. But there are ways in mitigating the use of such drugs - awareness/education to our youngsters and the repercussions/side effects on our body, lifestyle and social life.
Maybe harsher penalties should be introduced as well to deter such illicit use.

Will today's youngsters be tomorrow's ministers, general managers, directors, etc. happily sniffing, swallowing, injecting themselves?

I shudder to think.

Well done to all those concerned to keep our country as clean as possible from drugs and augur more success in the future. Minister statistics like most other things -has more than a single interpretation or putting it in another way -comparisons are odious. Could it be that last year our law enforce agents missed out or that the dealers this year are more desperate or bolder, but most certainly less successful.

It would be neater to keep to the relevant facts and just praise the efforts.

Prohibition did not work in the 20's and 30's in the US and won't work now. It only serves to enrich and strengthen the criminal cartels. It is time to start tackling the problem in a pragmatic manner.

Does the fact that our Police seized more prohibitive substance than they did last year means that our forces are winning over the criminals? I sadly suspect that the illicit drug trafficking is becoming more rampant. Fishing in an ocean will give you a much better catch than fishing in a pond.
