Enemalta would like to clarify some inaccuracies that appeared in an article titled Enemalta Faces New Competition In Gas (September 26).
Following the concession agreement between Enemalta and Gasco, on February 1, Liquigas Malta Ltd - a sister company to Gasco Energy - took over the gas distribution business from Enemalta and became responsible for the sales price of LPG gas; the sales of gas cylinders, both door to door and sales from fixed points; the gas emergency service; and the importation, maintenance and testing of gas cylinders.
Enemalta is still responsible for the importation of LPG in bulk and storage and bottling of gas cylinders at the Qajjenza facility.
It should therefore be made clear that, as opposed to what was reported in sections of the press in the last few days, Enemalta is no longer active in the gas cylinder business and is not a competitor to either Gasco Energy or anyone else.
