Zrinzo Azzopardi becomes interim PL general secretary
The Labour Party this evening appointed its president Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, as interim general secretary until elections for the post are held in January.
Dr Zrinzo Azzopardi will fill in for Jason Micallef, who has left the post to become chairman of One Productions. He takes up the new post on Thursday.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the party administration.
The PL said the Office of the General Secretary would go through a transitional period until January, when the party annual general conference is held. It thanked Mr Micallef for his service in the administration of the party..

I think Dr. M. Falzon would make the perfect general secritary for the PL with his given experiance. At least this is my idea anyway.

You can never please these nationalists! Now complaining about Zrinzo Azzopardi already!
As far as I know Dr. Zrinzo Azzopardi is a moderate person and was never involved in any political gaffe not like PBO not to mention others.
Musical chairs youre saying. Ah maybe if you ask Dr. Fenech Adami, RCC and others I`m sure that they know how to play this game because they are experts in this field.

Dr Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi is a valid person within the PL. Good Luck for your new seat. Keep up the good work.

Any position Dr. Zrinzo Azzopardi holds within the Labour Party, has my Unconditional Approval, as he is a very moderate and intelligent person.
Dr. Muscat, you ARE on the Right Track.. KEEP ON GOING...

Can PL call David Copperfield and make Jason Micallef vanish?

Do not all these 'musical chairs' go against the democratic choice of PL delegates as expressed in the last General Conference? Is it that easy for the 'boss' to change people around after they had been elected to their posts by a majority vote? Where has the democratic process of choice gone within the PL?
So why hold the next GC in January if then those chosen can be so easily removed from their office?

Musical chairs?
To me it appears that unlike Dr.Gonzi, Dr.Muscat is in full control of his party.

Sour grapes for Gonzipn die-hards!
If only Dr. Gonzi and the PN had 1% of Dr. Joseph Muscat's mettle they would be in a much better shape.
However the PN wishes to solve the issue regarding the vacant post of party president, they have been unable to make any progress on the matter through their own ineptitude, visible weakness and lack of creativity in solving administrative issues. Not to forget that the changes being made by the PL are motivated by the urge to have the party on a better footing. This in contrast to the PN's case wherein the vacancy in the top most administrative post (party president) came about unexpectedly and forcefully.
Hey guys did you forget the run up to the EU election. Where was the PN's general secretary then?? In the PN's case rather than musical chairs we are witnessing vacant chairs, no music and chairs filled by dead wood.
Meanwhile sit back and watch the changes taking place in a perfect harmony no PN knows of.

Look whose talking about musical chairs! What about the ex Prime Minister who resigned and was then appointed President of Malta? And the present saga of whose going to be appointed EU commissioner? Isn't it another musical chairs with names like RCC, Frendo and god knows who else? Kulhadd jara t-tibna f'ghajnejn haddiehor, u hadd ma jara t-travu f'ghajnejh!!

So now we're like Pn, without a president? Mind you I never heard of any Pn supporter moaning about Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi before. Maybe this was a wise move to get rid of Stefan too in the nearly future.

"Suddenly the PL is having some good advice!"
Where has Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi been all these years? You mean he could not, as President, give a word or two of advice?
Or, is this part of the 'terremot' which has now turned into a game of musical chairs?
The LP should make this a paid position at e40,100 per year and presto! problem solved. Marisa Micallef will become the first female President of the LP, Jason can continue
to chair One Productions while giving his valuable advice as he has done in the past and Dr. Zrinzo Azzopardi can be confirmed Secretary General. All this will only cost an extra e100.00 a year. Case closed.

Ah, if Gonzi had the courage to change, we would not be in the present predicament! People living in glass houses should not throw stones, or should they? Joseph Muscat is a like the fresh majjistral during the hot humid and stiffling xirocco......who is personified by Dr Gonzi and friends!

Dearth ? What dearth ? With the current setup, the same few people are appointed to tens of Boards and Directorships ! Fat chance of anyone with qualifications and experience but no PATRON of getting anywhere under this scenario. I hope the election comes over real soon so I can pass on my message loud and clear through my vote.

Let's face it. Nothing beats a good game of musical chairs. But hey, the music stops every now and then yet everybody still manages to find a seat ! Labour's idea of : 'biex hadd ma jibqa lura'.

And the musical chairs drama continues. It appears that Joseph Muscat has James Bond's takes. He prefers it shaken not stirred. He does not want to stir trouble within the party, so he is only prepared to shake the dead-wood from one office to another and expect it to perform miracles.

If only the PN had the gumption to make some much-needed changes in its administrative structures and ministerial responsibilities. Probably it's the evident dearth of suitable persons that is blocking these changes. Ah well, have to make do with what we've got.
