A total of 3,100 court cases were decided by the Civil Courts in the first eight months of this year, compared to 2,994 last year, Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said today.

Speaking during the presentation of a new book by Max Ganado and Austin Sammut - Maltese Cases and Materials on Trusts & Related Topics - Volume 2 - the minister said that there was also a 3.4 percent drop in the number of pending cases in the Civil Courts, in spite of the fact that the number of new cases remained constant.

A particular drop could be noted in the number of pending cases in Gozo. While the first hall of the Gozo Court last year had 1,020 pending cases, these were reduced to 850 this year. In Malta the number of pending cases was reduced from 5,141 in August last year to 4,908 this year.

Maltese Cases and Materials on Trusts & Related Topics - Volume 2 was published by the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.
