The Chinese Red Poppy Ladies Percussion Group gave an exhilarating show at Freedom Square in Valletta yesterday celebrating the Chinese Moon Festival. The artists showed amazing skills particularly in drum playing.

According to Chinese literature, the Moon Festival celebrations date back more than 2,000 years when in feudal times, Chinese emperors held a ceremony in praise of the moon for a prosperous year.

The event was organised by the China Cultural Centre and Valletta local council in collaboration with the Council for Culture and the Arts.
