Santa Maria Addolorata hazard
The Times (September 12) published a photo of the steps leading to the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel. There are no railings as a safety barrier, thus risking a fatal accident.
Dione Bugeja clearly states that it could change the status of anyone visiting or attending a funeral from a visitor to a resident. Most of the steps in that area are in the same predicament.
Yes, we have millions of euros (€80 million so far) for a new Parliament House and yet are so mean about upgrading the Addolarata Cemetery.

The Addolarata is a unique architectural gem that is being left to rot. The eminent architect Emmanuele Galizia and the stone masons of the time brought into being, what in all probability is the sole noteworthy achievement of the nineteenth century in Malta. Its detailed structures are an irresistibe inspiration to the real meaning of life and to what awaits us after life on earth.
Where are the true patriots amongst our decision makers? Shame!

The whole Cemetery is in dire need to be 'repaired' and restored. But, let us be fair: 'What does, any Govt, get out of this resting place?' NOTHING! I think it would be fair if every Grave owner pays, say, for example, €23 per annum, or alternitivley, a minimal payment could be made each time someone is buried there.. HOWEVER, we then MUST be SURE that these monies are USED solely for the upkeep of this 'Resting Place'
