Looking sleek but menacing, this US Airforce F-15 was among 48 aircraft which flew in today for the 17th edition of the Malta International Airshow, which will be held tomorrow and on Sunday.

The arrivals included the French Breitling aerobatic team, whose aircraft flew low in formation over the runway before breaking up for landing.

Taking part in this year's show are aircraft from seven countries, with aircraft ranging from F-16 and Tornado fighters to the Harrier jump jet, a water bomber, and the SH60 helicopter used by the commander of the US Sixth Fleet.

The airport gate tomorrow opens at 10.00 a.m. and the air display starts at 1.30 p.m. Entry is via Hal Farrug Road.
