Jean Agius (September 21) is in favour of one national day and this should be September 8, Victory Day. Yes, this day will definitely unite the Maltese nation.

Then the Nationalist and Labour parties, if they agree, could propose a day each to be two secondary national days. The two left out of the present five national days would be kept as public holidays.

The recent history of Malta clearly shows how any other national day would be celebrated - according to which party is in government.

September 8, for Malta and Gozo, is a very special day. It is a day of survival for us all or, as it is known better, Victory Day.
