Having enjoyed our first cruise last summer to the Baltic capitals such as Oslo, Stockholm et al, I was amazed they all had an al-most free or very cheap shuttle/coach service into the heart of the capital.
This was great for the many people who travel in groups but can't always afford an excursion or indeed don't want what the excursion offers.
Why haven't we got this here yet? Why does Valletta have to rely on paid-for excursions? I heard that on one ship lately only a third took an excursion.
What a waste of potential business to our coffee shops and more.
The effects of this recession may be with us for two years or more as unemployment is hitting very hard in Europe.
People who travel are being more careful with their pounds and euros and we should be trying to get business into Valletta instead of investing in a Parliament building and removing car parking, which can only already harm Valletta's precarious shopping trade and attract people elsewhere.
We have certainly come a long way since 1964 but Project Parliament is not putting this country's, much less Valletta's, interests first, 45 years after independence now, is it?
