It is apparent that despite Mepa being a public entity and, therefore, responsible primarily to the public for its actions, it is acting as a tyrannical and irresponsible agency. Who precisely ordered the suspension of the environmental (this office should be familiar with this word as it forms part of its title) pollution service and on what justification? Also, how was such a momentous decision promulgated?
It seems that Mepa is an auto-nomous organisation that may be permitted to act arbitrarily and without being restricted by protocol or the absolutely imperative need to explain such actions. Even to respond to such complaints appears beyond its scope or remit as, invariably, such complaints are treated with disdain and regarded as a benign irrelevance.
Is Mepa not a public office and all the staff therefore not public servants? How is Mepa actually complying with serving the public in such vital key areas as informing the public? Regrettably, Mepa is a sham and a parody of accountable and transparent (remember those good governance core value pledges, Mr Prime Minister?) action and commitment to the people.
Long live the reformation!
