I wish to commend the Swieqi local council and The Corner Store in Triq il-Qasam for taking quick action to render the junction between Triq is-Sidra and Triq il-Qasam safer.
However, as the photo shows, the danger still lurks on this busy corner. The sleeping policeman (far right in the photo, just beneath the no entry sign) spans only half the width of Triq is-Sidra, resulting in many drivers who want to turn right into Triq il-Qasam skirting it to avoid the "inconvenience" of riding over a bump.
This sleeping policeman is thus defeating its own purpose. Is it not possible to extend it to cover the whole width of Triq is-Sidra?
Nothing has been done to calm traffic coming down Triq il-Qasam as it approaches The Corner Store which, as the name itself implies, is located exactly on this dangerous corner.
The traffic mirror (marked with a red patch on the left side of the photo, just behind the parked black car) is useless when double parking and parking on yellow lines by The Corner Store often obstructs the view of drivers leaving Triq is-Sidra at that point.
