A group of 68 illegal immigrants were yesterday brought ashore by the Armed Forces of Malta after the outboard motor on their dinghy stalled when they were about 28 nautical miles from Malta, the AFM said. The group consists of 47 males, 14 females and seven children, all of whom claim to be Eritreans.

The Armed Forces of Malta said they were alerted about the dinghy by the captain of a trawler.

The migrants were transferred to patrol boat P-51 and landed at the Maritime Squadron base in Haywharf.
