Clean-up yields everything And the kitchen sink
A clean-up by residents of the valley going down to Sta Marija Estate in Mellieha yielded everything and the kitchen sink - literally, as this picture shows. The clean-up of of Ghajn Zejtuna Valley was part of efforts for the regeneration of the Valley.
The activity was held by the Residents Association of Sta Marija Estate. Mayor Robert Cutajar also gave a helping hand.
Mellieha local council will this evening hold Iljieli Melliehin, promoting culture and tradition in the heart of Melieha.

I applaud the cooperation of the Mellieha local council and the Ghaqda tar-Residenti ta' Santa Maria Estate - Mellieha. It's good to see that the local government and the residents are taking this matter in to their own hands. Keep up the good work!

Kudos to the organisers and a big thumbs up to Mr Cutajar. Although I do not know Mr Cutajar and neither do I reside in his locality, he appears to be giving the area a badly needed breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work - I like your way of thinking and admire your thick headed approach when it comes to implementing something for the benefit of the locality.
On the other hand, it is a shame that uneducated hillbilly louts still exist in Malta, especially when all it takes to dispose of unwanted bulky refuse is simply a telephone call to any local council, who in turn collect the item and dispose of it free of charge....."ixhet hemm! - u l-aqwa li mill-bieb 'il gewwa nadif Mari!"

This is a very commendable deed, as a matter of fact, if everybody pitches in to help clean their surrounding areas, Malta could become a lot cleaner. If you think Malta is dirty then do something about it, like these people are doing. We ( figure of speech )make the mess and we have to clean it up. MEPA and the authorities have to make sure that developers clean up their mess after each job, vendors don't leave any debris around, so on and so forth. If everybody pitches in you would be surprised at the results. We know we cannot depend on the government alone. Good job and thank you to the volunteers.
