The organisers of the Digital Arts Awards have received 85 submissions for the first edition of the awards that celebrate local digital creativity.

"We're impressed with the professional work and high quality presentations," Jon Mallia, event organiser, told i-Tech. "Unique, exceptional and most of all rewarding, these awards will honour the digital arts and media industries in ways never before seen in Malta."

The Digital Arts Awards will highlight creativity and excellence in a variety of industries, such as advertising, graphic design, print, audio visual, photography and web. The best among the best will also be rewarded.

All submissions are being sent to all appointed professional foreign and local judges, whose profile will be published online.

The award ceremony will take place Saturday, November 7 during a gala dinner at the InterContinental Hotel, St Julians.

The main sponsors of the awards are Nexos Lighting, Apple iCentre, Air Malta, Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture and Sport, and PBS.

This event is tied to the second edition of the Digital Arts Expo that will be held that same week. The expo, which opens on November 4, incorporates conferences, workshops and seminars, and a showcase of the latest trends in the digital creative industry.
