Open Day at Villa Francia

An open-day is to be held on Sunday at the recently restored Villa Francia, the former residence of Prime Minister Sir Ugo Mifsud in Lija.

It is thought that the building was originally built as a one-storey lodge in the mid-18th century. Another storey and side wings were built through the years.

Works at Villa Francia, formerly known as Villa Preziosi, started in June 2006.

The property is government-owned. It will be open for visitors between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. An exhibition of documents related to Sir Ugo will be held.
Maurice Degiorgio, chairman of Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malta and Eddie and Anthony Aquilina, directors of Miranda Publications, this morning presented books to be Prime Minister for use in the villa's library.
