Salt Partners, which provides support to financial services professionals and has provided back-office services to law firms based primarily in the Caribbean, will tomorrow launch its services here in Malta.

Tracy Lange, managing director of Salt Partners Group of Companies, told The Times Business: "Salt Partners is promoting Malta as an excellent back-office facilities centre as well as a strong financial centre and it is already attracting considerable interest from the Caribbean area."

Salt Partners commenced trading in January 2007 at which time two members of staff were employed to assist a law firm in the Turks and Caicos Islands, where the company originated. Ms Lange knew Malta well as her parents have been living in Malta for the past 19 years and she was aware that Malta was promoting both its back-office facilities and its financial services.

"The Turks and Caicos Islands, and other Caribbean islands, have smaller populations and finding and recruiting professionals such as lawyers, accountants and administrators was often challenging. Salt Partners was set up to engage professionals in Malta to provide back-office services to these Caribbean islands," she said.

The Salt Partners team now consists of 11 and it is hoped that it will continue to grow, Ms Lange said. "Salt Partners core business is to promote Malta for back-office facilities and as a financial centre, and now, Salt Partners is networking with local professionals to find synergies and mutual opportunities. Salt Partners can also provide support services to Malta legal and financial firms," she added.

Ms Lange said Salt Partners has certainly seen the effects of the current economic climate, however, it has not experienced any down-turn in business itself and business has in fact continued to expand. "More often than not, Salt Partners can offer international clients reduced administration and accounting costs by using Malta's back-office facilities," she said.

The launch presentation will be held tomorrow at the San Ġorġ Corinthia in the presence of Finance Minister Tonio Fenech.
