HSBC Bank Malta recently supported a high level Maltese commercial delegation which accompanied President George Abela and Foreign Minister Tonio Borg on a state visit to Qatar. The visit was jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Malta Enterprise.

Qatar has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years supported by an expanding hydrocarbon sector and record oil and gas prices. This growth is expected to continue but ever increasing focus will be placed on diversification away from energy into other sectors.

Michel Cordina, deputy head of Commercial Banking for HSBC Malta, highlighted the fact that through its extensive worldwide network HSBC is well positioned to assist Maltese and Qatari businessmen to develop international growth strategies and exploit the resulting business opportunities. HSBC has over 8,000 commercial relationship managers operating globally, dedicated to helping businesses maximise their potential.

"HSBC's global network means more than just experience and knowledge. It also means real local insight and understanding which is vital," said Mr Cordina. HSBC is actively promoted as being the Leading International Bank.

HSBC Malta said it will continue to support future commercial delegations and it will also be a sponsor of an official delegation organised by Malta Enterprise to India planned for November.
