Darren Vella yesterday added the Skeet Trophy to his collection of honours after claiming first place in a competition organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation (MSSF) at its Bidnija ranges.

Vella obtained 44 points in the opening rounds before hitting a further 24 in the barrage for an overall winning total of 68. Clive Farrugia was second with 64 points (42+22) and Joe Muscat third on 62 (40+22).

The remaining top-six positions were occupied by Noel Scicluna (60), Jason Sciberras (58) and Elenio Mifsud (55).

In a statement, the MSSF announced that Clive Farrugia, Ian Grima and Nathan Lee Xuereb will take part in the Juniors World Cup, being held in Italy this week. The young shooters will be accompanied by MSSF coach Jimmy Bugeja and Carmel Cascun, the MSSF treasurer.
