New wards are being constructed at the St Vincent de Paul Residence for the elderly in Luqa and at Jean Antide in Attard, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this evening.
Speaking during an activity at the party’s Hamrun club to thank former Nationalist MP Antoine Mifsud Bonnici, the Prime Minister said the new block at St Vincent de Paul would accommodate 144 people while that at St Jean Antide would accommodate 64.
The new block at St Vincent de Paul would include halls for elderly suffering from dementia. A training course was also organised for those who would be working with these elderly.
Dr Gonzi said Dr Mifsud Bonnici was a fine example of a politician who always worked for the service of the people. He always saw politics as a tool which would improve the people’s life and he put this into practice as an MP and Parliamentary Secretary. The country and the people, he said, should be grateful to Dr Mifsud Bonnici.
