Sheffield United gets Fortina Spa Resort as platinum sponsor

Sheffield United Football Club has today unveiled Malta’s five-star Fortina Spa Resort as a platinum sponsor of the club.

The Blades have developed a strong relationship with the Fortina Spa Resort having stayed at the hotel during the club’s pre-season tour of Malta.

The partnership extends United’s relationship with the island, after the Malta Tourism Authority renewed its ‘visitmalta.com’ sponsorship for a further two years.

Mike Farnan, executive director at Sheffield United, said: “The latest partnership with the Fortina Spa Resort is the perfect extension to Sheffield United’s growing affiliation with Malta.

“We continue to look at innovative ways to develop tourism, business and football opportunities for the island. It’s a hugely important step for the club to be able to work directly with such a popular hotel and resort from Malta.”

The Fortina Spa Resort sees the partnership with Sheffield United as being key to raising its UK and European profile.

Cliff Agius, sales and marketing manager for the Fortel Group of Hotels, said: “Sheffield United has already helped generate considerable interest for Malta as a popular tourist destination. We hope that our partnership will add to this awareness and create even more opportunities for the island.”
