An Irish woman who resisted arrest after her boyfriend and friend smashed the roof of a car in a moment of drunken madness has been conditionally discharged.
Louise McAdam, 23, took off with her friend and boyfriend after police officers heard a commotion not far from the police station in Qawra at about 4 a.m. on Tuesday.
The police went to investigate and arrested all three. They admitted to causing about €2,300 worth of damage to the car, when they started jumping on the vehicle's roof but Ms McAdam put up quite a fight and slightly injured two officers as they tried to arrest her.
She pleaded guilty to resisting orders, scratching the officers, breaching the peace and swearing in public.
Police Inspector Therese Sciberras said Ms McAdam's boyfriend and friend had immediately paid for the damages and apologised.
Lawyers Joe Giglio and Gianluca Caruana Curran told the court their client would also like to apologise to the officers for her behaviour. The officers, who were present in court, accepted the apology.
Magistrate Silvio Meli conditionally discharged her for six months.
