The Premier League has been temporarily suspended by the Malta Football Association because of ongoing investigations.

During its a meeting yesterday, the MFA council discussed, among other matters, various issues including the effect of Board to Investigate Corrupt Practices to relegate with immediate effect Vittoriosa FC to the First Division.

A discussion on the number of clubs which should form the Premier and First divisions ensued. The council agreed that both divisions should be composed of ten clubs each.

Since the Marsaxlokk case is still pending the council decided to suspend the Premier Division league and decided to continue its meeting on September 17, hoping that by that date the board would have given its decision about the Marsaxlokk case.

The council urged the board to conclude the Marsaxlokk case as soon as possible.
